Sometimes a chart is meaningful for what it doesn't show. Such is the case here, where, other than the manufacturing sector, there was virtually no meaningful difference in valuation metrics across the sectors. Although healthcare services fared the best, the sector average of 7.6 was only 0.3 greater than media and telecom. Notably, this was a departure from what we've seen in the past as there was substantial variation in valuation across the sectors between 2012 and 2015. How do we explain this extraordinary convergence? Bueller? Bueller? The truth of the matter is we can't. We suspect it's an anomaly that we won't see again soon.
